(2016) “A Long Walk to Water” by Linda Sue Park features the true life story of Salva Dut who became one of the “Lost Boys of the Sudan.” He endured many hardships, armed attacks by military forces, wild animals, starvation and yet survived to tell his story. This book is a standard requirement in the seventh grade curriculum of most schools, public and private. Upon reading the book many of the young readers are motivated to do something to assist.

We at ROTA have had an opportunity to visit many schools in our area and assist these young people in their endeavors. Thus far the schools include: the former "Our Lady of Blackrock," East Aurora Middle, West Seneca East Middle, West Seneca West, Clevehill Middle, and Nativity of Mary School. Our visit often leads to fundraising project whose proceeds are used by ROTA to fund Cistern Well Projects at many different schools in Uganda. Many thanks to our youth for Reaching Out 2 Africa with us.
